I was using a "Flush King" last fall to rinse the black water tank. This was the first time I had done it this way. Previously I had ran a hose into the RV and put water directly down the throat of the toilet. While filling the tank with the Flush King, the tank ruptured and water was gushing from the underbelly. I called Crossroads since it was still under warranty and told them what had happened. I had other commitments which prevented me from being able to take it in that fall and asked them if it would be a problem taking it in this spring. They indicated that, since they were aware of the problem, taking it in this spring should be OK. Michigan had one of the worst spring seasons on record and I couldn't even get the 5er out of my driveway until recently. Now they are hedging on honoring the warranty since I'm one month past the 2 year period, even though I let them know about the problem last fall. Is there someone at the factory who might give me a better answer than "we might cover the cost of the tank, but the labor would be at your expense."

Thanks,

Gary Harkins

Gary, we had to have all but three decals on our trailer replaced under the 2 year warranty. About a month after our warranty was up I noticed the other three had begun to fade and crack. I called Crossroads and told them this was the same issue as with the other decals they had replaced and I was told you are 30 days past your warranty go pound sand. I wish you better luck than we had with them at the time. They seem to be hedging on a lot of warranty work now. Wonder why.......

I heard that the "family owned company" that they used to be has been bought out by a corporation and they have lost all of their ability to make decisions like this. The way they used to be would have kept me a loyal customer. Now, when I am looking to upgrade, I guess I'll be playing the field. Too bad, they WERE a great company to do business with!!!

Yes Gary the times have changed from the Crossroads some of us use to know and support to one that has the bottom line as a business model. We had great support with our unit through all the issues we had during the two year warranty period, we would have been SOL with the new one year warranty.

Gary, sorry to hear of your problems. Just a question. Doesnt your 305skp have a built in tank rinser? Just curious why you were using a Flush King to back flush the tank. In any case, even overfiling the tank I would have thought the vent would have relieved the presssure and prevented damage to the tank. Wonder if something else was a problem. Hope Crossroads comes thru for you.

do you have anything in writing or email from them indicating thy would cover it in the spring? That might be your only recourse.

Mine was built before they started putting in the built-in rinsers. My personal opinion is that the company neglected to connect the vent pipe. If that is the case, and they still refuse to fix it at their expense, they will find themselves in court. I don't even care how much it costs, I'll do it just to make their lives miserable.

Lesson: Don't screw with a retired guy who has nothing but time!!!

It's a shame you can't take businessmen at their word any more. Used to, a man's word was his bond.

I wish you good luck. Maybe Thor will eventually wake up and see what is going on at Crossroads, especially if sales and profits start to fall.

Ours has the built in tank flush but I prefer to use the Flush King. After using both several times I feel like on our unit the Flush King works better. I feel like something was not plumbed correctly in the vent system of Gary's tank because the Flush King should not have ruptured his black tank. The vent system should have pushed the excess water out of the vent pipe on the roof. I say this because those of you that have been toa coupleof the Texas Rallies know that I tested this theory out........

I hope
they will help you out and not just look at the warranty time period, etc.,
glad you have enough time on your hands to push the issue to court if they
continue to give you a hassle.<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /></span>

Unfortunately,
I just called CrossRoads because our decals on the front of the trailer are
peeling but they will not cover it even though the trailer is just over 1 year
since purchase (Feb). My trailer has a 2 year warranty but as the gentleman
pointed out to me on the phone, it is a 2 year "limited" warranty and
they do not cover anything they put in the trailer past the manufactures
warranty and this includes the decals which only have a 1 year warranty. Also a
problem with the cheap plastic catch for the main trailer door and same
response, only 1 year from the manufacturer of that part......</span>

They don't stand out anymore like they use to for being one of the best in the business for warranty, quality and customer service. They are just another Thor cookie cutter manufacture.

Talk about a scam. In my way of thinking, if they tell you it is warranted for two years, then they should cover it for two years. I can understand normal wear items like brakes and tires not being covered for the full warranty, but decals? If they won't hold up more than a year, then they need to replace them free of charge and look for another supplier for their decals. Crossroads/Thor will drive themselves out of business if they continue with the reputation they are building.

Yup, and it looks like they are working real hard to do just that!!
I've had good luck with my rig, but it was built back when there was a lot more integrity within the company. You could believe what they said. Now it's just a bunch of lies and bulls++t coming out of their mouths. Who in their right mind could honestly think that the public would believe and accept their line of bull on the "new 12 mo. warranty, and 12 point promise" It's just like the old line-- "the checks in the mail honey".
I feel really sorry and bad for the young folks that are getting sucked into buying a CR now days. It will more then likely sour them on RVs for the rest of their lives.
I know, before someone says it---they all make their lemons, but this outfit seems to be trying to be the leader of the pack in that dept.
