Water Filter Storage

I'm a weekend camper with an occasional week long trip about once a year. I had been using the Camco 40043 Tastepure inline filters but upgraded to the Camco 40631 Evo Premium Water filter and have a few questions.

How do I store the filter between trips?
How many uses can I get out of a cartridge only using it on weekends?
What's a good replacement cartridge to use?

Maybe someone will jump in soon with info. We don't drink water from the camper anymore.

I'm fulltime so I don't store mine, but using it fulltime I change it, actually have 2 - 1 sediment & 1 charcoal on either side of a water softener, about every 6 months. I buy replacements at Wal-Mart & if I recall they're Culligan brand & we drink, make ice, make coffee all from the rv.
As far as storage I would suggest not putting the plugs in the ends & standing\propping it up so it could dry out between uses.
