Water Pump/Fresh Water

We just go our Zinger a few weeks ago. Went camping last weekend and used the city water connection with no problems. Now that I have the camper at home I went to use the water pump and the faucets are only spitting a little water but mostly air coming out. The toilet seems to get water. I probably have about 5 gallons of water in my fresh tank. I'm not connected to city water and I didn't use the water pump when I went camping. When I took delivery of the camper the water pump worked just fine and water came out of every faucet without a problem. According to my owners manual the pump is self prime. Is there something simple I should look for? Is 5 gallons of water enough in the fresh tank for the pump to work? Thanks in advance!

I think you will have to put more water in the tank. Unless they have changed, the drain line and the pickup line are a few inches off the bottom of the tank.

Fill it up and use it for a little while, just to give it a run. Then dump it.

If you have a winterizing kit at the pump be sure that valve is in the correct position. There should be about an 18" piece of tubing connected at the valve and the other end is free that would be inserted into a jug of anti freeze. It's probably in the correct position since it pumped at the dealer.

If your water heater was empty at the time, it has to get it filled before you'll get water from the faucets.

What a great forum. Can’t add anything else except great bunch of people on here. Some forums you can ask a question and never get an answer. Nice job

The only thing that could possibly be improved on with this forum would be a THUMBS UP. Where a person could click it too show appreciation for the useful information to that persons post. I realize there is a thank option but that is also fine but not what I mean. A thumb up would show if 1, 5 or 50 people show thanks for the valuable information below that particular post.. Just thinking out loud and not create any waves.

We tried to get that added but were turned down.

But maybe in the future, we can get a thumbs up.

Thanks

Thank you everyone for your input. I found the problem to be the bypass valve at the water pump. Apparently the dealer left the value in the position for the hose to winterize the unit. Once I switch the value the system worked great.

Thanks again!!
