I have read a number of articles concerning adding water softeners to the black tank to keep the crud from bricking up.I found a 40 lb bag at the store today and picked it up but I'm concerned I may have bought the wrong item. It says 99.9% salt. does that sound right? or did I buy a bag of salt?

Sorry, You bought a bag of water softener salt. Calgon water softener is in the laundry dept.

what you bought is salt for a water softener installed in a house. I use it in mine. Calgon should work fine for the tank.
