Water tank empty?

How do I know when my cold water tank is empty? My concern is if I use the hot water and drain down the hot water tank. It could overheat due to low water level? Seems like the pump would just run because of demand, so that's no clue. Any ideas? Brought on because we always had a water hookup on our site till this year. Being long weekenders, the site was too good to pass up. Has electric. And how many gallon tank for water? 30 foot 2006 crossroads cruiser bumper pull. TIA.

When you fill your fresh water tank and use your water pump it will supply water to the camper just like you were hooked up to city water connection. So if you use your hot water the water pump will pump water from your fresh water tank to re-fill your hot water tank. As long as you don't run your fresh water tank dry you will be fine. If you do run your fresh water tank empty you will hear the water pump keep running and no water will come out of your faucets. If that happens just shut off the switch for the gas water heater and turn off the water pump switch. Add more water to your fresh water tank and when you turn your water pump switch back on it will re-prime the pump and fill the lines and hot water heater.
