What do you clean your roof with.

The final numbers in our roof maintenance poll are:

  1. Total number who do nothing to roof: 7
  2. Total number who only clean their roof: 26
  3. Total number who clean and protect: 7

So, a total of 33 owners so some type of maintenance to their roof.

Now the new poll.

What do you clean your roof with?

Thought I would post back here one more time.
After sitting under all those trees for a month with leaves collecting up there and staining, this is what my roof looks like after I cleaned it when we got home. I didn't spend much time at it as I should have. Some of the stains are still evident.

I find that when I clean, there is some discoloration under the dirty spots. However, there is no need to get too aggressive trying to remove them. After a day uncovered, in the sun, the roof seems to come back to normal and bright.
Has anyone else experienced this?

We use a liquid all-purpose cleaner. Spic and Span powder was recommended to us, but we cannot seem to find it in the stores.

Amazon carries it and if you're ever around any Amish community they tend to carry it in there general stores.

Spic N Span removes wax, so I would not use it on the roof if you are not going to rewax the sides again.

Maguire's car wash shampoo...same thing I wash the entire unit with. I also use a Boar's Hair brush when washing.

Thought I would scrub off the bulk of the grime with Dawn detergent and hot water... I scrubbed my butt off. Then applied B.E.S.T., it came even cleaner. I then skipped using the Dawn for the next section and B.E.S.T. worked great. I still scrubbed with a nylon brush, but it came cleaner with one step.
