For the life of me, I can't figure this out and I'm sure it's simple. There is a small dome shaped piece of white plastic on the wall between the bathroom and the bedroom in my fifth wheel (Cruiser Sahara). It's about the diameter of a fifty cent piece and sticks out about a half inch. It appears to be some sort of sensor or vent but I've not been able to make the connection as to functionality. Anyone have any ideas?

Probably a temperature sensor for the programmable thermostat.

It's the temperature sensor used with a zoned bedroom air conditioner. Some a/c units have the temp control on the face of the unit and the fan runs constantly, others are "zoned" and controlled by the same thermostat as the a/c in the main salon. (ie zone 1 and zone 2)

That it would but I'm a considerable distance from the RV right now. I posted the question to the group as I was reading something that made me think of it. If I don't "strike while the iron's hot"...

Thanks for the replies. The temp sensor sounds logical, however, I'm not sure what to do with it. I'll have to check it out when I get in the same zip code as the camper.

What do you mean, "what to do with it?" Why must you do anything with it?

Iam thinking it might be a vent from behind the shower wall so moisture doesn't build up. That's my guess.

Well, you know, take it apart, inspect it, put it back together, ponder how if fits into the grand scheme of life, etc. Actually, I mean do I see if it is functional or not. The unit originally shipped with the single main A/C unit. I had a second installed in the bedroom (pre-wired for it) but it has it's own control panel. Maybe it can be changed over to be zone 2 and controlled from the thermostat?

What RV do you have. Mine came prewired for the second AC which I added. It did not have it's own control panel but was wired into the thermostat and controlled by it. If your second AC has a control panel on it you got the wrong AC, fuss at the dealer. They should both be identical and controlled by one thermostat, Zone 1 the main and Zone 2 the bedroom, which uses the unknown bulb you found.

Our Sierra has the same thing. We were told it is a sensor for a optional 2nd AC (which we did not get). When a bedroom AC installed, then that sensor would control it from the panel by the steps.

The zone controlled a/c is about $300 more than the basic a/c with on-board controls; which can not be retrofitted to work with the master thermostat. Just something to be aware of when shopping for a new camper or adding a second a/c. The sensor is already wired into the thermostat so it's probably not a good idea to disassemble or tinker with it.
