I am wanting to get a surge protector for my unit before the spring. Not sure what is the best kind to use. Don't like the idea of getting it stolen so I will probably hard wire it. Any suggestions on what size or brand. Ok, I know this may be a stupid question, but if you have a 50 amp hookup and your at a campground that has only 30 amp hookups and I use the 30 amp reducer will that affect the surge protector or anyway shut down the power. Thanks Edited by: Papa-T

It is good you are thinking about electrical protection for your trailer. There has been a couple of post about hard wiring a surge protection inside the unit either in the basement or near the power panel.CW sells a couple of units that can be hard wired but I have a Power Master power regulator. It does the same as an Autoformer and they can be mounted inside with an adapter cable or placed out side too. I thought about someone stealing the unit so I mounted it inside. This not only provides surge protection but can regulate the power voltage too.I know this is more than you asked but just something to think about for a few dollars more.

I got mine from CW, they were on sale (224.99) on the internet. It is the Surge Guard 50A. Still working on where/how to hook it up.
