Wiring issues

Got travel trailer that needed a little work. Had to replace some floor and walls in front above tongue /battery. Snipped a couple wires to reframe wall. Reconnected and finished everything up. (trying to keep it short). Now converter seems to be humming constantly and radio, water pump, and gauge will not work. Lights on gauge flash on for a second, same with radio. Could this just be from dead battery?? Problem occurs even when plugged in.

Sounds like battery is wired in reverse. On these trailers, black is positive, and white is negative/ground. Lights will work either way, converter goes nuts, radios, pumps, etc do not work.

Thanks

Does it ever cause permanent damage to radio etc... Pretty sure battery is dead and could have easily been hooked up backwards. Thanks

Could cause damage. When you replace the battery you'll find out. You'll have to check fuses then if something is not working.

Think of it this way. On the wiring in your home black is "hot" or positive. White is neutral. Knowing this you can mark the end of your black cable with shrink wrap, paint, nail polish, or whatever.
