working on slideout roof wiper

I need to get on top of one of my slideouts on my cruiser to change the rubber wiper seal. Is it safe to do so because the roof on the slide seems to be a lot lighter built than the roof on the 5th wheel? I thought about putting a board across the the roof to kneel on. Any input would be appreciated.

They are built lighter than your regular roof. Even though it would likely hold your weight if you were evenly on both feet and walking, I wouldn't trust it to kneel down or put your whole weight on one foot or knee. I would say you are on the right track to put a board across it before you put your weight on it. Better safe than sorry.

You could also just open slider partially and do it from a ladder.
