Have any of you purchased the Xtra Ride extended warranty? Our two year factory warranty is almost up. Based on the few things that have needed repair (a/c replacement for one)I want to be safe and secure the next five years. Yes I know all about extended warranties VS saving the money in the bank so please those opinions are ot necessary.

Art, I have the Good Sam Extended Service Plan on our PP. It cost about $400 a year. You can go on their web site and get a free quote.

Keith,

GS Sam quoted $1,000 for two years. The plan I am looking at is $1,700 for five years from date of policy and it covers slide out seals. My quote is from RV Wholesalers, where we purchased our Cruiser. Explore USA sells the same policy but could only offer three years of coverage.

The biggest question about extended service plans is where can you use it? Any dealer, only the sealer selling it, or selected dealers???

My wife and I purchased a extended warranty from Good Sam. And we had a cooling element go out on our 08 mk-33 toyhauler while we were camping in Estes Park. The local repair man suggested that we replace the whole refridg. Good Sam agreed and we have a brand new Norcold dual door for $344.00 total out of pocket cost. He even gave us a loaner for three days at no extra cost.
We have already saved our premiums for three years.
We are extremely happy with our Good Sam extended warranty, and would highly recomend it.

When you say seals are covered, does that mean if damaged or if worn out? At 8 yrs, the slide seals on my old Cruiser were in bad shape, but unlikely to be replaced under any extended warranty because they still performed their intended function. Your warranty would likely expire before the seals failed to seal. So, that is the first question, what does 'covered' really mean? Second question is how ez is the company to work with and what dealer network? Not every problem is an emergency and repair costs can vary if you have the flexibility to shop around.

I did have an extended warranty on the last Cruiser, we were on a tight budget since I retired so early and didn't want too much exposure to unexpected expenses. But we never used the warranty. Tough call.

Another factor to consider is how financially sound is the offering company? If the warranty comp. goes belly up then your out. It's rolling the dice and I stay away from them. Having family that was in the new car biz, I know the warranties are a profit center. Research their rating and ownership.

We have had terrible results with XtraRide. They have denied claims that the mechanic and inspector both say should go through. We will probably wind up paying for the extra time at the mechanics while we have had to wait for the inspector as well. At this point we regret buying their warranty. They have offered no protection, and we are actually talking to a lawyer.

Please do not buy XtraRide Extended Warranty Service.

Good Sam is a solid company so that is a consideration.

Be aware of someone coming out of the woodwork and suddenly bashing a company.
