Does anyone have anything experience with the XtraRide Extended Service Policy. My dealer recommends that I buy one and says that anyone who doesnt will be sorry. Not a good representative for the products he sells eh ? I am trying to cut through the BS and determine if I should buy this or look at some other warranty policy. The cost is $1995.00 for a 5 year policy. Still don't know what is and isn't covered. Just thought I'd ping yall out there to see if you had good/bad or no experience with Xtraride.
We had this same policy with our 05 Alfa. Since we fulltime and its was a little older 5th Wheel. Used it a couple times When we traded the Alfa in on our Jefferson. We were credited for the months not used. Had to go the dealer we purchased it from. We are also full timing in our Jefferson. So we purchased another Extra ride warranty.

We bought an extended warranty from our dealer here in Nova Scotia. Thing to remember with any warranty - it is only as good as the person's willingness to honour it. We have on-site service - so far they have been excellent. Given the plethora (word used for emphasis) of problems noted by many on this forum with the newer construction - an extended may not be a bad idea!!!!! Your cash - your call. We are now on the 4th service call in only 2 months of ownership. Nothing too major - but it could add up over time. We have a 7 year warranty....(Not sure of the name - it is a Canadian product)....

I have the Xtra ride. I have never bought an extended warranty on anything but was highly recommended by our dealer as well. IIRC it was around $1400. Supposed to be good for seven years. Have not had to use it so can't speak to that.
I had the XtraRide 7 year warranty on my 2010 Flagstaff TT. My dealer threw it in with the deal. That was in 09, but he told me at that time that the cost would have been $1400 retail and that his cost on it was some less than $1000, $900 comes to mind. You might try to dicker a little bit. As for the warranty itself, I don't know. The Flagstaff never had to go back for anything. Edited by: mike06081969

We purchased a 7 year warranty when we bought our unit in May 2013. Rather expensive (3000 tax in), but with so many electrical devices, Kiel awning, stabilizers, slides, I wanted that added insurance. We pan on keeping the unit at least 7 years, good peace of mind!

Had the Xtraride on our former Cruiser. When we sold it in January the new owner got the remaining five years for either a $50 or $100 transfer fee. It cost me $1,300 back in 2010 for five years. Due to the selling dealer's error I actually got seven years! It more than paid for itself in the two years we had the plan. All the other places I shopped wanted $2,400 to start. The place where I bought it no longer sells it.
When we bought the MH in January the price of an Xtraride was $4,400. Went with a Good Sam plan instead for much less cash and great coverage.
BTW: No dealer EVER "throws in" anything. You pay for it, dearly.

I realize the dealer still made money, but we negotiated the warranty after I'd already made the deal. It was sort of a take it or leave it on my part, but I don't think he got hurt, lol. The WDH was also part of the deal. When I traded it in for my Blue Ridge fiver, he came off with a slider hitch in the deal, but I couldn't get the warranty out of him again. This is a small dealership, not a LazyDays or Camping World. I know the owner on a first name basis.Edited by: mike06081969
The point I was trying to make is that if you are giving $3K to $4K for an extended warranty, you are getting hosed. The dealer pays a price for that warranty and then turns around and "retails" it to you for a huge profit. It doesn't hurt to negotiate on the price of the warranty just like you would on the price of the camper. The dealer can cut you some slack and still make a profit on it.
