I have a 2013 Zinger 28BH that I have used about 7-8 times already (love it). I'd like to check to ensure that the wheels are properly tightened but can't seem to lift up the trailer high enough to free up the wheels. I tried one of the Trailer Aid Tire Changing Ramps on a level surface (even tried adding blocks underneath to increase height) but the other axle just settles down and won't lift up. How do you jack up your trailer? Should I purchase a special jack?

Not sure just what you want to check.
Do you want to check to see if the lug nuts on the wheels are tight, or do you want to check to see if the bearings are tightened properly?

If checking lug nuts, you don't have to raise your rig up. Just get a torque wrench and tighten them to the right specs. If you want to raise it for the wheel bearings and your trailer aid won't get it up high enough, I would use a bottle jack to finish getting it up. Al tho, they say not to raise the trailer by jacking under the axle. You are suppose to raise it by jacking under the frame. To much blocking for me to carry around, but as thin as the axle walls are that they are using on the newer trailers, I guess it will have to be your decision.

I'm looking to verify that the lug nights are tight and to further wiggle the wheel to make certain there are no apparent bearing issues.

It would seem to me that a TT would come with a jack and any special instructions for jacking. Do all TT not come with a jack?

I'm surprised the Trailer Aid would not work, that's how I do it. I do put a 2x8 under it to get the height. I also have a bottle jack, you can get one for about $20.

the trailer aid doesn't work. you drive on and the trailer kinda twists. The other wheel stays on the ground. We jacked our 26BL up yesterday to lube the bearings before our trip to disney next week. What we found... the gas line runs along the frame, not going anywhere near that. we tried the metal crossmember under the frame but it began to bend. We ended up placing it under the piece that goes between the tires and connects to te u bolts (spring???, sorry DH knows these things not me). we had the floor jack up on lynx leveler blocks to make it reach. it worked and is what we have done in the past. Not sure that's what is recommended but its what we do out of desperation. We use a 6000 lb hydrulic floor jack.Edited by: anaro

Yes, I'd have the same problem as the original poster. The newer units have the wheels spread apart farther and the incline on the ramps isnt "aggressive" enough to raise the other wheel. I've not had the need to jack up the unit, but when I do, I'll call customer service and get the jack points just to be safe.

I use the heavy duty car/ truckramps. drive up on them like trailer aids, but they are high enough even for the wide stance axles.

That ok at home but what about when you travel and need to change a tire etc. How do you jack then?

I would recommend a bottle jack or the like for emergencies. Our TV jack works well when placed under the axle. We have used our leveling blocks to raise jack as required.
