Newbee to Forums

Just a hello, I've been lurking since before we bought our Zinger a few months ago, but just now got around to registering. I have to say I am extremely impressed with the amount of knowledge that's available, and the willingness to help by the forum members. Also appreciate the great photos that are posted. We have a 2011 ZT-26 RL that we pull with a 2007 Yukon 2500. We bought lightly used from great previous owners and so far are well satisfied with the trailer. We're looking forward to being part of the Crossroads Owners forum. (hope I got the photos loaded correctly!)

That was taken at the Vineyards Campground at Grapevine TX. It's one of our favorite places, a little pricey, but really good access to DFW.

Welcome. Great looking photos and nice rig. In fact, at first glance it appeared that you were backing your rig into a boat landing.

Thanks, it was nothing planned. We had the Yukon, then just happened to run on to the Zinger at a good price at the right time. We needed something with a little more room than our old trailer when camping with the Grandgirls. It was in like new condition, the PO had installed power awning and jack, also threw in just about everything we needed to go camping. Hoses, chemicals, gas grill, mat, everything down to the dishes, pots and pans. The worst mistake we made was not buying the 2010 Ford truck that he towed with.

Hello and welcome. You say you wish you had purchased the PO ford. Are you having issues with your SUV or is it a little white knuckle towing?

No, I really like our Yukon and it is quite capable for the Zinger. It is the 2500 4wd, 4.10 diff., with full tow package. We seldom use it for anything except our TV. As I said, the Zinger was in superb condition when we bought, the Ford TV was a 2010, also showroom condition, with 21,000 miles, loaded, and a really good value. One of those times when you sleep on it you realize you missed a deal.

If your Yukon is doing the job and you are happy with it, then you saved yourself the money of buying an unnecessary larger vehicle.

Yukon vs Ford

I appreciate the input, it's a valid point. The Ford 1/2 ton would have been better as a TV combination daily driver. The Yukon is not really economical to drive around town. I have a 1/2 Silverado for a driver / work truck. It works alright but extra insurance, registration, tires and so forth. I am looking seriously at the Ford Ecoboost but will probably give it another year to see if there are any problems. If I was towing enough to justify it I would go with a Duramax. Still just kicking tires.
