Hello, I am looking for a campground in the Adirondack New York area, anyone have any suggestions? Also any suggestions for educational things for a 12 year old would be great, historical places or really cool science or outdoor things work too.
Thanks in advance

When the kids were young we took them to Higley Flow State Park a lot (south of Potsdam, not actually in the Adirondacks). We now go with our frown daughter and grandchildren. Beautiful park, lots of hiking trails, nice beach, some nature programs as well.

I may be too late to help, but...
In Indian Lake, try Thornbush Acres, a small family owned, FHU, nice people.
In Broadalbin(southern end of Adirondacks, Pine Park. We are there now. Fairly new, FHU, mostly shaded, Great little place.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply we stayed at Lake Erie state park when we went to Niagra Falls, and Lake George Escape near Lake George. Which was expensive but had a lot to offer. Unfortunately we wanted to explore so we didn't do too much at the campground. I loved that upstate area.
Thanks again Mark

If you can, post some pics of the Adirondacks and surrounding area.
I've always wanted to see them, but haven't made it out there.
Adirondack section of NY has abundant CG available. Private and DEC mostly Rugged country, biggest draw in the area is Lake George surrounded by campgrounds. Amusement parks, Lake George Village etc
Many CG (we prefer) are NY State run DEC . No hookups, dry camping, most have lakes and beaches. Review all on Resere America and assorted on line sites.
We are staying at Fish Creek Pond later in August, Lake Durant, Little Sand Point, Has been highly recommended. You mention Adirondacks, but several choices also in Catskill range too. Good Luck

One pict from Fort Ticonderoga, one from about an hour North of Lake George normally this stream was a trickle, and this was flooding a cave, one from the Lake George Escape, and the last from the Ohio Turnpike.

But Kemp, the original ones posted are still upside down.
Well I tried to fix the original post, but I ended up deleting the good pictures instead. I couldn't find a way to restore them. Maybe Labbie can upload them again.
