Any Suggestions near Lakeland, FL?

Hey Everyone! The wife and I are planning a quick 3 day camping trip down somewhere near Lakeland, FL. Anyone have a suggestion to where we should set up at? Never been camping there so we have no idea of what would be a NICE place. We plan on meeting friends and family who are flying in and want a nice place that everyone can come over to in the evening and just have a good ole relaxing, fun time. My rig information is in my signature block. Thanks in advance for any help!

Sanlan RV park is in Lakeland, I've never stayed there. I'm staying at Rainbow Resort in Frostproof which is about 40 minutes from Lakeland, it's about 12 miles south of Lake Wales just off rt 27. It is a Sun Resort and has specials for first time visitors.

Sanlan Rv park is a nice spot. We were there for a week this past Jan and will definitely go back. Nice pool and very friendly people.

Thanks to both of you! Anyone ever stay at Carefree RV Resort in Lakeland? It's closer to where the family and friends are and looks pretty nice...on the web anyway!

Hillsboro River State park I believe is 25 min from Lakeland. Lazydays RV is near there a little more upscale and I believe it's 50% off to veterans.

Goon,
Is Sanlan a resort or just a camping village? How the heck have you been? Where are you now, are you in Gulf Shores? Send me a message and let me know where you are and how you're doing.

I just had gallbladder surgery on Wednesday so I'm kind of laying low the last couple of days dealing with the pain. He also repaired a large hernia I had, caught them both in the nick of time. I'm in Weslaco, TX at a Snow to Sun RV Resort. The weather's been nice here lately, in the 80's and beautiful.

PM me and let me what's going on with you and what your plans are. Maybe we can meet up some way some how on your trip home if our plans coincide at all.

Travel well, travel safe,
Jim

We ended up staying there at Carefree RV. It was VERY nice! Lots of events going on there with bands, pot lucks, bingo, etc...One of the full timers stopped by one morning and invited us to the pavilion for there morning coffee ritual! Just a group of them all sitting around and shoot the bull. Very friendly people all around. The site we had (don't remember the number) was perfect. Nice concrete slab for the patio, good shade trees but not so many that the sun couldn't get in and the grass was all cut and manicured. Sites were pull through and there was plenty of room to maneuver.
Location is great as well. There's a Publix market in a little strip plaza just about 1 mile from the campground. The plaza has a pizza place and a liquor store (ABC) there as well. Also, there is a huge farmers market, open air type about 15 minutes from the campground. They have EVERYTHING. It's not just produce but car parts, pots and pans, clothing, etc...The produce section was slam packed with every type of garden grown food you can think of. Strawberry's about half the size of my hand!!
Over all, this is a fantastic place to stay. Can't say enough about it.
