Duke Creek Campground, Cedar Springs, MI
This is a well managed family campground close to Grand Rapids, MI. So not a resort type park and not a dump. The campground is a mixture of season lease sites and open camping. Grounds are kept up and the facility hashad significant investment and renovation since the new owners took over 3-4 years ago. Property has been acquired and the bridge constructed across the creek for further development and growth. The campground is clearly a work in progress, but a pleasant stay with friendly owners and campers alike.
Large play ground, well kept pool and pool house, rec hall is detached from the office, which has the usual assortment of supplies. Pool table in the office area. Golf cart rentals. Rental cabins. Sites have parking on pea gravel. Only beef I have is the sewer connection is atthe street, a remnant of previous ownership. No additional fees for air conditioning or electric heaters ... a growing trend with private campgrounds here in Michigan.
This is the third year we have stayed at this campground. We coincide our visit with one of the three annual open meets for the White Creek Railroad. The WCRR is only 1-2 miles down the road. This is a 1:8 scale railroad that is the third largest facility of it's kind in the U.S. Always a great morning to take our grandson out for a ride on the train ... keep in mind that we sit ON, not IN the cars. Trains are gas, electric, diesel and steam. Those steam engine whistles are a hoot
This is NOT the campground you see along US131. That campground is not recommended. Easy access from the highway, close to grocery stores and ice cream
