Giant City State Park
This was my 2nd trip so far this year. Nice place if you are into hiking. Electric only.

We are very fortunate to have several places like Giant City State Park here in Southern Illinois. We spend most weekends camping at Rend Lake, but do like Giant City. We live in Herrin.

I was at that park last year. It is a beautiful park, and there was no one in the campground while I was there. Very disappointing that more people don't utilize the Illinois State Parks.

Had not been there in ages. It is a nice park. Pics don't do it justice. Going to Fern Cliff in a couple weeks. Have'nt camped there yet, how do you like it? We enjoy going to Lake Glendale. It is a USFS campground. More roomy compared to state parks. Will be going to Rend Lake later this summer.

There were not many this time either. Maybe 12 TT and maybe that many tents. There are quite a few hidden gems in Southern IL.

We like Ferne Clyffe State Park as well. We stay at the Federal campgrounds at Rend and very rarely at Wayne Fitz State Park. The Federal side is much nicer. We mainly stay at Gun Creek and South Marcum. From where we live it is nice to be able to go 20-30 minutes in any direction and get to any of the campgrounds you have been to and Rend Lake as well.
