I have a 3 day weekend for july 4th and want to stay within a 3 hour ride of Raleigh. I have a 3 1/2 yr old daughter and a 70 lb dog. We want one that will give us a good family camping experience and some nice fireworks that weekend. Our wedding anniversary is 7/8 and dating anniversary was 7/4 so that will be our anniversary celebration this year. Thanks.

We ended up booking at a KOA in asheville. It looked nice on the website, I guess the only way is to get out and see for ourselves.

Generally speaking KOA's are nice campgrounds. I do stay at a mix of campgrounds when we take our long trips in the summer and the KOA sites are always in the mix. Have lots of fun on your outting.

You should try Jellystone in Marion NC sometime. They have lots of activites for a 3 year old and for adults too. We usually go there a couple of times each year.

Another good place that I would recommend is Davidson River CG near Brevard NC. It is in the Pisgah National Forest near Sliding Rock. We will be going there at some point this year, but not sure when yet.
