Headed to Newfoundland and Labrador

After one shakedown weekend, we are headed on our maiden voyage with the new Zinger to beautiful Newfoundland and Labrador. We are scheduled to cross from North Sydney to Port Aux Basques on Saturday and then drive straight through to St. Barbe for another ferry ride to Labrador. Will spend a week there before returning to St. Barbe onwards north to St. Anthony. Another couple of days in St. Anthony and then pick our way back down the Northern Peninsula to explore the Western Brook Gorge and climb Gros Morne in the national park. From there we head back to Corner Brook for a wedding August 28 and then back to Nova Scotia to do some exploring down the Eastern Shore enroute back to Bridgewater.

We have not been to Labrador but we spent 4 weeks in western Newfoundland in 2010. If you like zip-lining, they have the best zip line at Marble Mountain. If you have never zip-lined, give it a try. It's a lot of fun!

We climbed Gros Morne in 2003.

The Viking display at L'Anse Meadows is well worth a visit. The National Parks people do a great job.

Have a great trip! Don't forget to post pics!

We just climbed Gros Morne a week ago. Also, take the water taxi from Norris Point to Woody Point...nice scenery on the 10 minute ride. When climbing Gros Morne, take at least 2 litres of water per person, more is better. The climb is brutal over loose rock, but is well worth the challenge when you get to the top. We had a fantastic day, no clouds or fog on the top. The trek down the mountain is rough going as well. From start to finish, it took us 7 hours. Gros Morne RV Campground in Rocky Harbour is a nice and clean campground.

Those are nice pics. You should start an album here to place your photos in.
