Can anyone recommend a campground in Long Island. I will be attendinga wedding in June in the Hampton's. I was looking for a place to stay for a few nights, with a minimum of electric hookups.

check suffolk county parks dept.they might have non resident prices.county and state campgounds can be a little tuff to get resavations with utilites.i think there is a private campground in greenport.(eastend of long island)one place that i love is a county campground called shagwon. its dry camping on the beach in montauk. i know its not what your looking for but i figured i'd mention it cause its beautiful.i'll make some phone calls to a couple of friends and if i can get some links i'll post them. or just find a walmart.

I drove through the campground in Greenport. It looked nice, although I have read they favor and have a decent amount of seasonals. This is what I read on one of the review websites, not from firsthand experience. It appeared nice when I checked it out. I would assume there will not be any campgrounds on the south fork because of the premium on real estate in that area.

Try Indian Island Campground I think it is a county park [Suffolk] Very basic but very close to the hamptons. Then their is Hither Hills which is a state park in Montauk not sure if they have any hook ups or not. Eastern Long Island campgrounds is in Greenport on the north fork and I have stayed there twice and it was the WOST camping experience of our life's been camping over 30 years. Do yourself a favor and save your money and stay away from thereEdited by: silverado

your right indian island has hook ups.(it is a county park)you may want to look into wildwood state park. they have hook ups there.you'll never get into hither hills. resavations need to be made 9 months to the day before, and it books out in 2 minutes.thats too bad about the greenport campground. i've never been there before.

yeah... we camp with a real good group. lots of activities for the kids. we have big dinners together, and we all live and attend the same schools in the same town.the lake george lazy river is a nice video. darrell puts music in the backround and he does a ton of editing.we went to lake george two years ago and he came in the water(million dollar beach) and took over 300 pictures of me and my family.i have to tell you its just priceless because i'm always the one taking pictures and i'm never in them with my kids and wife.

p.s. i live in that hat when i camp(drives my wife crazy)

Thank you all for your help. I checked out the county park that was recommended. Looks like a very nice place. However, they require a 4 night stay. I just found out that it is Father's Day weekend that we will be going, and need to be back Saturday night. So we will be staying over in a hotel.
