MIght could be, really depends on how much you want to spend. Personally I am cheap when it comes to paying to camp. There is Pirateland Campground and Ocean Lakes, I think there are spots on/near waterfront. Will be in Huntington Beach St Prk, Sep for two weeks, not on the beach but close enough for me, could try Myrtle Beach St Prk also.... not too sure just what you're looking for ...........

friends stayed at lakewood...reported that sites are very tight.
we stay at Ocean Lakes campground.
Ask for a site in areas H, HH, I , as these are more spacious and close to beach
[see campground map]
stay away from area J.... very tight.

We spent 2 winters in lakewood. Stayed on the side tward ocean park. Much nicer sites then the ones tward Pirateland. You also don't have all the golfcart traffic with the kids.

Willow Tree, couldn't think of the name. Stayed there a couple times, not near the ocean, is in Longs, SC. An old quarry made into a lake, very nice (a bitpricey!). However I heard the owners have changed since last we stayed there, don't know anymore, but we liked it immensely. http://willowtreervr.com links to Myrtle Beach Campgrounds and more. Good luck!

we stayed at pirateland last year. it was nice but I would not recommend the inland sites as they can be really tight and have lots of trees to avoid when backing in. The beach/oceanfront sites tend to be larger but they do have some "premium/oceanfront sites" that are really lake front and can be tight to get into a spot. There is mini golf, a pool, lazy river, kiddie pool, arcade, paddle boats and a snack shop.

These pictures are really awesome. My favorite spot is a club on a beach or a resort with a pool.

Ocean Lakes campground for us for Myrtle beach.Prefer OBX though for best fishing. Couldn't go there last year due to the bridge being out from the storm so we went to Ocean Lakes campground.Back to OBX this year though; I pray.

Stayed at Lakewood for 2 weeks in August. Great place only in summer you can't drive after dark for all the golf carts. Kids love to cruise especially on main drag near outdoor pool and indoor pool. But if you have kids or grandkids it's great.Lakewood has their own show that is free to campground folks.

We are currently at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. "Use of golf carts not allowed on transient campsites"(rules on their map)meaning folks like us cannot bring their golf carts with them. Which I prefer. Travel Parkhasindoor and outdoorpool and a lazy river and of course the beach. I like the Travel Park a little better because it is not quite as large. But Lakewood doeshas a lot of activities for the kids. Travel Park is also right at Walmart, Tanger Outlet, and BassPro plus lots of place to eat of course!I went to Huntington Beach to check it out and was told in summer you have to make your reservations a year in advance. Not sure about that and have not stayed there but it looks nice but sites are quite a ways to beach. Hope this helps.

Mark...for a quiet campground with basically 2 miles of almost totally private beach go to Huntington Beach State Park...south of Merrill's Inlet off 17....they have a few full hookups, and yes must walk to beach but not far...it is a really nice park...we just left there last week....will go back for sure.....

This is where we stay:

http://www.myrtlebeachtravelpark.com/

Pull through sites and great place to walk the beach. There is preserve north of the campground that covers 1-2 miles of beach with no buildings or businesses.
