Croton Point Park - Update
Croton Point Park is situated north of NYC on the banks of the Hudson River above the Tappan Zee Bridge. The campground is isolated from the public park by location at the southern end in a grove of trees. We were on the waiting list for over a year, and because the construction workers for the bridge dominated the inhabitants, we never got in.
The park is built next to (possibly on) a landfill. The train terminus is located near the park entrance. Communication with the park is limited mostly to when they call you to ask if you still want to be on the waiting list!
Like all locations in the area, traffic is heavy. Ossining, NY is home to a prominent prison. The locals say that's all right because if prisoners escape, they are most likely to leave the area quickly. Route 9 is pretty, though.
P.S. Liberty Harbor RV Park is essentially a parking lot.
