New York City Area

Does anyone know of an RV campground near New York City (maximum one hour by train)? We're looking for a full-hookup from May to October for our 2015 Travel Trailer. I'm looking for places that do not necessarily have websites.

Thanks.

NY city area

You can try Croton Point Park. Croton or Ossining Ny.
East side of Hudson River, near Croton Harmon Station. This was active Park cpl years ago, not sure now.
A bit of a stretch (on many levels) would be Sylvan Lake Campground Hopewell Jct NY. 15 minutes east of the New Hamburg Train Station also on the east side of Hudson River.
Metro North Railroad "Hudson Line"
Hope this helps.
There is a KOA in Newburgh (west side of Hudson)
Not sure about rail to NY.
The Hudson line stated earlier go direct Grand Central Station
Good luck

Croton Point Park - Update

Croton Point Park is situated north of NYC on the banks of the Hudson River above the Tappan Zee Bridge. The campground is isolated from the public park by location at the southern end in a grove of trees. We were on the waiting list for over a year, and because the construction workers for the bridge dominated the inhabitants, we never got in.

The park is built next to (possibly on) a landfill. The train terminus is located near the park entrance. Communication with the park is limited mostly to when they call you to ask if you still want to be on the waiting list!

Like all locations in the area, traffic is heavy. Ossining, NY is home to a prominent prison. The locals say that's all right because if prisoners escape, they are most likely to leave the area quickly. Route 9 is pretty, though.

P.S. Liberty Harbor RV Park is essentially a parking lot.
