Just got back from a weekend near Munising, MI in the UP.

WideWater Campground was great. Every site except for #9 is in great shade. We stayed in site 11 and it was very private and large. Site 18 also looked awsome, but any of them were great.

Stay in site 9 only if you want to use 100% solar power and love to get a really really good tan.

This appears to be a Hiawatha National Forest campground. Though short by UP standards it appears from the map and the types of roads that it's about an hour to Munising. I've stayed at Wandering Wheels just outside of Munising and it is a very nice campground (privately owned). I haven't seen too many NF camp sites that would RV friendly. Were they the typical small sites or did you happen to find a larger one? Pictures?

about 65% of the sites at Widewater would easily hold out 30 footer. it took us about 20 minutes to get into to town.

I have some pictures and will post them later this week.

I'll have to check it out next time we're up that way. Looking forward to the pics.

Hope you had time to explore Grand Island.
