Going out the last weekend of October....most Campgrounds are closed by then. I'd lke to be maybe 2 hours from Milwaukee. Most any direction. Any suggestions out there
WI state park Bong Rec Area is open until 12/5. Bong has electric and dump station, but you need to bring your own water. Also, I believe Big Foot Beach in Lake Geneva and Devil's Lake are still open.
Most private CG are close around here by mid Oct.
Also,
I thought I heard that IL. Beach State park in Zion is closed until next year due to the damage from the summer storms.
We're going up to to Green Lake, Green Lake Conference Center (http://www.glcc.org), 7,8 of October. Have been going there for 30 yearsin early October. Beautiful views, golf, tennis court.walks, etc. Many deer in area. Warm showers & restrooms. Call first to see if campground still open late October. No need for reservation this time of year.
My wife found Christmas Mountain in the Dells.....anyone been there? She liked the indoor pool access.
I have heard of it and see them advertise, but have never been there. Please share your thoughts after the visit. Should be nice and quiet this time of the year.
either Harrington Beach State Park or Kohler Andre. Both on Lake Michigan. Harrington is east of Belguim, Kohler near Sheboygan. Beautiful walking trails and interesting scenery. Both have electric on some loops.
