Cape May NJ campsite ideas

A week Friday we depart on our summer vacation to ocean city MD. We had booked a night at a hotel in NJ for the Friday night but I got a call this morning saying they could no longer accommodate the trailer as the hotel is full.

Can anyone suggest a campground in central / southern NJ we could stay at for one night?

Thanks Simon.

Timberland lake in Jackson is nice. Not tip of the line but it is near six flags and the staff is friendly.

It depends on if you want to stay near the NJ turnpike or the Garden state parkway.
Bakers acres is a place I take my boys. Family and pet friendly.

I have also stayed in the Cape may area at two places.
Adventure bound was roomy, pool was ok, campsite was close to wildwood boardwalk.
Seashore ca
Mpsite was big. Many full time and seasonal spots taken. They have a nice swimming pond and the pool is big.

All the places above I have been to once or twice and would go back with my family and dog.
Hope that helps.

Are you wanting cape may and planing on taking the ferry across or drive over the bridge to southern MD?

Just realized the date.
I will be in ocean city during that time frame too. Staying at Fort Whaley/ frontier town. Boys are excited about the water park and beach.

Try calling Avalon Campground (609)-624-0075...Very nice campground...Ask to be placed in one of the P sites...Easiest to get into and out of if your staying for one night....

Here is their location: 1917 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House, N J 08210....
Google map it if you want to see where it is located...

Dad
Just reread your post and I think you would be better off camping in Southern Pa. then travel on to OC Md.

Thanks for the posts everyone! We are going via Cape May to take the Ferry, thought the kids would get a kick out of that. I'm going to try some of the campgrounds listed but as we will be there for less than 12 hours I'm leaning to leaving later now and driving though Friday night to catch our 11am Saturday ferry ride.

P-Fam #2 we are staying at Castaways 11th - 18th.

My only issue is we are booked on the 11am ferry, have to arrive by 10am Saturday morning. With a 6-7 hr drive to Southern PA that leaves us an early start to make sure we arrive in Cape May on time. Two of the campgrounds I called yesterday said no to an early departure as it would bother the other campers, which I understand.
