Crater of Diamonds

We just got back from our Crater of Diamonds and Petit Jean trip. Right at 1500 miles. I-40 in AR is terrible and rough!! I mention this only because I wanted to post something positive. We had no issues with our camper. Nothing broken and everything worked great. Great trip other than the damn heat. Boy it was hot. Towing thru the Mtns on the Scenic 7 Byway was interesting. Pleased with truck too. It handled all in stride. Averaged 10.5 mpg thru the mtns. I will post some pics later.

Last time we were at Petit Jean, while awesome views and all, everything was under renovation -
Still great but is it all finished now ????

Don't know how long ago that was, but we saw no sign of recent construction. Everything looked as tho it had been there for quite some time.

I was hoping you would tell us that you "found a big one" at Crater of Diamonds! Glad you enjoyed your trip. I grew up near Petit Jean and worked there one summer. Happy trails

We did not find any diamonds. Wasn't for a lack of trying though. It was very hot and dry out at the field. Most are found after big rains on the surface. We may go back sometime in the early spring. There was only one 29 pt white diamond found the entire time we were there. Petit Jean was really nice.
