Need travel tip in this case !!

I am going to travel from Boulder City to Texas. This road trip is 1600 miles long. The places, I am going to visit:-
  • Bat colony in Austin
  • Big Bend National park
  • Guadalupe Mountains National Park
  • Padre Island National Seashore
  • The Fort Worth Stockyards
  • San Antonio's Spectacular River Walk
  • The USS Lexington, Corpus Christi
  • State of the Arts: Texas Galleries and Museums
  • The Moody Gardens and Aquarium, Galveston
  • The Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig and Museum, Galveston
  • Natural Bridge Caverns

This trip will go from New Mexico and Arizona. On my way back, I will go to the California and then back to Boulder City, Nevada. My questions are simple:-

Which RV will work best?
How many tires, should I have with me?
How much gas consumption?
How much food (as 3 people are coming with me)?

Right now I am having this ^^, it works best for most of the time.

And more question, I want to visit 'camp swift Texas'. Is it open to public? If yes, how can I get in? My uncle was serving in the area and he told about classic WW II machinery visible there.

Serious help appreciated !!!

Hi there,
glad to help if I can - even to the point of come on down to the house after I teach you how some say you are supposed to pronounce "Fouwt Wouth, Texuuuuus"

So, are you looking for something to pull with your jeep OR something to pull the jeep ?
to pull:
check YOUR models capacitities:
they really have limited towing capacity and differ from year to year and with different equipment:
Towing Capacity... - Jeep Wrangler Forum

here's an expedition type:
NASA Engineer Designs a Cool Expedition Camping Trailer for (Almost) Any Car | iRV2 Forum

Now if you are looking to tow the jeep in/behind an rv, a toyhauler or motorhome is it.

But, you really have the right vehicle to tour Big Bend, Galveston, and Padre....
Big Bend has the clearest skies in the nation for star gazing !

Have heard the riverwalk has really done downhill since we last visited....

give us an idea of your route and we can give you some other neat places !
(this is neat --> http://sandiapeak.com/index.php%3Fpage%3Dsandia-peak-tramway)

some neat caves in Texas --> Texas Caverns & Caves

and campgrounds abound --> https://www.google.com/maps/search/r....6862137,7.25z

If you want to tow something, you should check out some of the "off-road" pop-up campers. It will give you some space and storage, but the Jeep can handle it with ease.

Here is one: Palomino RV - Manufacturer of Quality RVs since 1968

oh, and I wouldn't haul MUCH food - everywhere you go there's a store - even a walmart most places

three adults in the jeep popup ?

and you'd miss out of some of the local whole in the walls that usually have the best food !

and like Eddy says- lot's of options - even on craigslist for used ones that people are upgrading from.

X2 on the food - great place especially to eat out and plenty of stores every where you are going. Looks like it will be a great trip, we went to big bend a few years ago and really enjoyed it

Not sure your estimate of 1600 miles is correct, unless your thinking one way. I live just south on San Antonio. I have been most of the places you mentioned.
Guadalupe Mts, Big Bend and the Texas gulf Coast are a MUST do. The Riverwalk is a great place to spend an evening sightseeing and dining. Texas has just about everything from mountainschool to piney woods. McDonald observatory is a no there point of interest while in West Texas.
Any more questions just ask .
