We are planning a trip to Niagra Falls in July. Is there any must sees or things to do while there, we have 5 days with one day has been planned for the Erie Canal area. We enjoy hiking, wineries, breweries, stuff like that. Yes also planning on visiting the Canada side. Thanks

There is a Niagara USA Discovery Pass available online. www.niagara-usa.com it gives you all of the most popular attractions and more. There are also a couple of nice state parks in the area. We plan to go in late June have a great trip.
Go Well

This is from the Canadian who goes a couple times each year.-You need to go to Niagara on the lake for the Wineries. Take one of the tours it helps when it comes time to find your way home.
-The ferris wheel gives you an awesome view of the falls and the area around the falls.
-Lots of little tourist traps on Clifton hill. Some of these are kinda lame but some are worth the money if you get the coupons.
-Step into the lobby of any of the local hotels and get the flyers and handouts for the attractions. This will save you lots of moneyif you combo some of the attractions. You will also find some free stuff that is designed just to get you in the door.
-Maid of the mist is a must. I can't stress this enough, it is a once in a lifetime event. You will always remember your first time.
-The wax museums are worth the time and money
-If you are bringing kids Dave and Bustersis a good lunch and play place for a break fromwalking.
-Marineland is also fun but you need to dedicate a day tomake it worth while.
-Get some fudge on Clifton hill. Couponin the hand outs
-The tunnelto the basethe falls is ok but not necessary if you do the Maid of the mist.
-For your hike you can escape the falls crowd and walk downstream to the rapids. This takes about 1 hour and you walk beside the river and past somecool views.
-I hate to drive in the area. Likely doto the amount of tourist that arelooking out the window and not reallydriving, making it very stress full. The bus system in the falls area is the best. You can park away from the falls and get the bus to almost anywhere you want to go.The schedule andall the info is available online.

I will stop now before you start to think I work for the Niagara parks. I don't

Have a great time
Dave

Thanks for all the info. Looking at the discovery Pass but could not tell if it was worth the money or not? We are staying at a KOA in New York think it is the Lewiston one.

Todd/Michelle,
We are going to Niagara Falls on our way back from Quebec City and Montreal on the way to the rally in July. We are staying at 4 Mile Creek in Youngstown, NY near the Falls. We are meeting some friends from the Rally last year, Karen & Larry Serantoni. We'll be there 5 days also, then heading to the rally. Have fun while you are there, it's a blast. See you at the Rally in July.

Jim & Linda

If you plan to see most of what they offer it is probably a value compared to gate prices. Great tips in above posts. Have fun

Hi Tator 447. We are staying at Four Mile in late June. Have you stayed B-4? Have a great time at the Rally. Did you enjoy your eastern travels?

Al,
Not to hijack the thread but I forgot to look you up when we were in CT last week. We're just outside of Cape Cod this week...so far the weather has not been cooperating at all.

Todd,
We're already in the east, have been for over a month already. Rained half of the 2 weeks we were in NY. Rained half of the 13 days we were in CT and RI, rained 3 out of the 7 days we were in Cape Cod last week. This week we are in Northern Mass on the NH border and it has rained steadily the whole 2 days we have been here and now they are calling for a Nor'easter toward the end of this week. We are hoping to go whale watching and it looks like it won't be until at least Saturday or Sunday now. Oh well, I guess it could be worse...I could still be in WI

Travel well,
Jim

So much to see at the falls, I enjoyed the walk under the falls. Also Niagara on the Lake is very scenic, have fun!
Hey Jim, sounds like you are giving that rig a real water test, hope it is all staying on the outside!

It has been a very wet spring - hopefully some of the days will turn sunny.

Maybe Linda and I should think about heading to Texas, they need rain...wonder if they'd pay me to come? Worth a shot eh? Finally stopped raining today after 4 straight days...and we had a nice day of sunshine and got a few things done. Hopefully whale watching tomorrow. Bad news is we leave Monday for Bar Harbor, ME and they are calling for rain again Monday. Hell, we packed up and setup last Monday in the rain. Maybe I should alter my schedule to Tuesday to Tuesday at each site LOL

Travel Well,
Jim
