Disintegrating pleather

I have a 2013 Crossroads Slingshot 27 foot travel trailer. The yellow pleather (imitation leather) coverings on the fold-out couch and the dinette cushions are disintegrating, leaving small powdery crumbs with the underlying fabric totally exposed. We live in Central Florida. The trailer is always stored with a cover when not being used. At this point, it has gotten so bad that we will have to have the couch and cushions recovered, probably with a cloth fabric. Has anyone else out there had to deal with this problem?

Many on here have the same problem. I believe most just purchased new furniture.

Furniture is mostly cheep. We replaced ours with a Rec Pro couch/recliner off eBay with free shipping for around $899.

We've got a 2014 and both of the recliners have the same problem. My wife found some cloth covers that slide on and buckle in place.

The couch is fine so I was expecting that the problem was with the amount of UV coming in the back window.

I must be blessed. My pleather furniture is still in good shape after 5 seasons of camping. Go figure.

Our 2013 Crossroads Sunset Reserve 5'er furniture did the same thing over the past two years. The gold upholstery started shedding and flaking exposing the white under side. We had the upholstery on the dinette recovered but ended up using slip covers for the couch and two rocker chairs. That's what you get when Crossroads used cheap furniture manufactured in China/Asia.

our 2013 Elevation toy hauler pleather covered sofa crumbled last year. We ordered individual stretch cushion covers from Amazon, and it's working well. $14 per cushion is a lot cheaper than spending almost $1000 for a replacement sofa.

Just texted her... she said she got them at Big Lots. I hope that helps.

Are you sure? My trifold sofa was made by Seating Technology out of Goshen, Indiana.

Almost all the furniture is made in USA. Lippert has a factory I believe in Indiana also. And if it's Flexsteel, it's made in Lancaster.

Manufactured in the US does not necessarily mean the components are US supplied. Most American manufacturers import foreign materials due to cost associated with labor and Government regulations. They then claim made in America. Thank NAFTA for that. As a downsized Eastman Kodak employee who watched my job and company shipped overseas, just like Ford, GM, Xerox, and so many more, I can safely say that the material in that furniture is probably low quality.
