Seem to have an issue with fresh water tank filling while hooked to 'city water', am hooked to a house spigot at present, all was good til we moved over about 20' more from house??? Also experiencing problem with toilet loose, rocks back and forth and fore and aft, nuts on the two studs at the base are tight. thinking I will take off the shroud at the base, under the bowl and see if there is a way to tighten it back down, no leaking at present, believe it to be a "Style II", not sure. Have been below where the drain comes thru the floor and have no access there. Anyone with ideas? Thank-you!

I have read that there is a check valve just inside the fresh water fill connection (or at the pump) that prevents the fresh water tank from filling. This is not that uncommon. Someone will post their experience first. So far I have not had that problem. Pull the shroud off the toilet and recheck the bolts. The toilet should not rock noticeably. It's easy to remove the toilet. If you do, replace the wax ring (or foam ring) with a new wax ring and bolts.

Right, thanks Stan, the fresh water tank issue seems to have stopped, at least the last time I checked it was not filling..... and I really did not want to remove the toilet it at all poss. but I reckon, if I must.... are wax rings standard for all? Thanks again!

On newer units, the check valve is built into the 12 v pump, mine started filling the fresh water tank and I had the pump switched out under warranty. No issues since, but if it happens again, I will just add an inline check valve.

My toilet originally had a cheap foam gasket. When I upgraded the toilet I installed a standard wax ring. They come thick, thin (standard) and with or without a plastic flange. I got a standard with the plastic flange. Works fine.

from what I seen taking the campers to dealerships is that some times the check valve sticks it seems for know reason hope it does not do it again the dealer told me to run a little bit of winter antifreeze threw the line and that would help the problem hope this helps Jim&Carol

Flange, on the floor was cracked, made it rock. Took the toilet up and the flange must be glued to the 3" PVC drain, no way it was coming off w/o breaking it all to he_ _. Went to Lowe's and with the aid of a helpful sales person got a "Wax Free Toilet Seal" , peel the paper off the top, stick it on the toilet horn and install, no wax ring. It's rubber and the bottom part fits snuggley into the 3" drain, push it down onto the bolts and tighten the nuts. Had to put ametal flange adaptor on top of the broken plastic one, lost the broken piece down the drain!! Should be small enough to not give any probs *fingers crossed* and this after telling DW to be careful not to drop anything into the drain!! Toilet did not sit flush w/ floor and had to shim for stability, works great and so far no leaks*fingers crossed*. That's how I spent my Sunday!

Ok anyone knows where that 'check' valve is and what one must do to prevent the freshwater tank from filling while hooked to 'City' water? Please!

It should be inline at or near the pump

Fresh water tank way overfilled & froze
I have had the problem with the fresh water tank filling off the city water. Really big problem. We are in Branson, MO. tank was over filling and running on the ground but now that temps are -3 below water is froze, tank is bloated and no water running out. The floor over the tank is now lifted 3" with a big bulge. Warmer temps are not expected until end of the week and this is Tuesday.
I wish I would have known about this when I left the dealership back in September because I noticed then but just thought they had overfilled during pre-delivery inspection.

your original issue was most likely caused by a faulty water pump check valve allowing the water to flow thru the pump into your tank. I am sorry to here your tank is frozen, Can you move the trailer to an indoor heated facility, maybe back to the dealer. You are going to have major issues if and when you can get that tank thawed out, and your trailer may need some major repairs. Tank replaced, Flooring replace, and maybe frame. Ice can move mountains

Thanks for your concern. Temps went to 40F today. I removed drain plug and filler cap, sun was on my side , drained tank completely. Floor is back to normal, thank God!
I turned city water back on, left the cap off, drain plug completely off.
I am watching to make sure fresh H20 stays on empty.
I still need to address the check valve issue.
Does anyone know where it is located on a 2013 Rushmore Washington?

I am very happy to hear your good news, I guess these trailers can take a good deal of abuse, that's good to know. I believe the check valve you are looking for is built into the pump.

I pulled up the paper work, it shows the pump but I do not see any sign of a check valve.
I'm wondering if Crosswords failed to install check valves in any of the Rushmore models or just left mine out.

There is usually a check valve on the pressure city connection. You might want to make sure that yours is still in the inlet.

If it is a Shurflo pump I believe the check valve is built into the pump.

X2..........
The pump requires a check valve or else it would never be able to hold pressure and would constantly run, because as soon as it stopped pressure would bleed off and drain back into the fresh water tank

I wonder if I can add a check valve to the existing water line.
