Replacement of Gas strut on Awning

Awning not retracting correctly. Found leaking gas strut. This was on our 2013 Rushmore Jefferson. Dinning room slide awning. My neighbor had a replacement strut on hand. It was 41"long. It was simple to replace, except it took two of us to pull the shaft in, to slip into the cross pin. Back to working correctly.
