fuel tank issues

I have a 2013 3612 elevation... its been in Indiana all winter for repairs. my question is that when I bought this camper I was informed that it has a 30 gallon fuel tank however every time I've put fuel in it I've never put more than 17-18 gallons in it before it started spewing out the fill nozzle. The manufacturer called me and said that it will only hold 23 gallons and that there's nothing else they can do. we camp at orv trailheads where we have to use the generator night and day. has anyone else had this problem and is there any way to fix this myself?

Look under where the fill hose connects to the tank. Mine enters the tank about 25 percent of the way down from the top. Plus, my fill house is almost completely horizontal making it extremely painful and slow to fill. Terrible design. Mine will hold right at twenty gallons.

I have a 3616. I love the lay-out and I needed the 16 foot garage. My fuel tank also is painful to fill. Since I haven't had the need to run the generator full time while camping, I only put enough fuel in the tank to exercise the generator from time to time. I have only filled mine using a five gallon container and a funnel.....painful operation.

I have checked. I believe the angle of the fill tube is not steep enough....

After getting tired of filling my fuel tank with a portable tank and funnel, I tried a portable tank and a syphon hose. I put tank on a portable table, insert syphon hose, press bulb a couple of times, and the rest is easy. It takes about 20 minutes to syphon five gallons into tank, but there are no spills, and I don't have to stand there and watch it. Not a bother if you are hanging around the house or campsite anyway. It still would be a pain in the butt to do if you are traveling on the road, though.

A "jiggle stick" works great for this.
