You are correct Matt. The sticker says GVWR 9200 lbs., GAWR FRT 4670, and GAWR RR 6084 lbs.

Would you purchase a 2013 Elevation?

Ok, so with a GAWR RR of 6084 and a rear axle weight of 3420, your "potential" payload could be 2,624lbs...as you correctly stated.

That said, that 2,624 includes everything outside the weight of the truck (just the truck, no fuel, people, tools, nothing).

Does the 7880 represent a full tank of diesel, you in it, tools etc?

If it does, you'd have 9200 less 7,880 remaining for pin weight payload which would be 1,320lbs; not much really.

One way to adjust the number a little in your favor (when towing) would be to load the 3612 with all your tool, everything possible. Although the trailer would weigh more, you'd only recognize 15% off that weight in the pin weight.

Example: your tool box may weigh 100lbs. When carried in your truck, that 100lbs comes directly off the payload. If the tool box is loaded in the 3612, the truck will only see 15lbs (15%) of the actual weight as it pertains to payload.

It is true to say that not all 3/4 ton trucks are equal. You may or may not exceed the limits of your truck.

That said, you have to think the manufacturers as a little conservative on the load ratings, right. [emoji6]

I fueled up and drove a half mile down the road to the scales. Had a buddy with me that's almost twice the weight of my wife :-). I also had my B&W companion slider hitch installed.

If I were to place most of my gear in the rear of the trailer am I correct to think that gains me more capacity for my truck?

If you are placing your gear in the 3612 vs. your truck....it would afford you slightly higher payload flexibility.

Honestly, with a dry camper weight of 10k lbs, you have to load a ton of stuff to reach 14k...which is your max tow rating.

I'd have a hard time thinking you could load 5k of stuff (most don't travel full of water, waste tanks full and several UTVs in the back) in the 3612 to take it from dry weight to max weight.

Fact is though, you are pretty close to the max payload for your truck right from the get go.

Yup
That's what has me worried.
May have to look for a lighter unit.
This was just such a good deal on a toy hauler which would be nice but a toy hauler isn't a must.
Thanks.

Ok I now have hard numbers. No more guessing. To simulate a loaded trailer I had the dealer fill the 112 gal fresh water tanks so I could run it across the scales. I figures the 934 lbs of water would be close to real weight once I load it down with the necessities. I hooked up and drove 4 miles to the Flying J scales. Here are the real numbers.
Truck steer axle 4300lbs. Rear axle 5920 lbs. trailer axles 9940 lbs. gross combination 20,160 lbs. my main concern was the pin weight and rear axle weight. It comes in 164 lbs under max.
May not be ideal, but any reasons to be concerned now.

So this is just my opinion, and not a directive...

Given that you hardly ever going to tow full of water, but the 112 gallons could simulate the weight of some grey water, some black water, some fresh water and a bit of gas in the fuel station.....

If it were ME, I'd go for it.

That said, I understand I may get shot by the Dually Crowd...and I do agree that the more truck the better...but if it were me, I would buy it.

You'd have think the manufacturers build in some cushion in their tow/haul/payload numbers...

Again, I've seen some crazy stuff on the road and I chastise them all...given I'm towing close to the limit too. Lol, the funny world of hypocrisy.

Doesn't look to bad hooked up. From the angle the pic was taken, Trailer appears a tad low in front, truck looks to be sitting pretty level. If that's the case, can you raise the hitch or lower the kingpin to bring the nose of the trailer up?

It's BIG!!

I agree with Lloyd looks pretty good...If the trailer nose is down in the front, it isn't down by much...No squat in the truck at all...
