I havew yet to use the water or fill it for that matter. what should I know before using it for the first time. Also, anyone install a water filter yet? any specific type?

You can get a screw on one that goes into the intake for your pump . check and rv or marine store. Boats use the same pumps.

I went to Menard's and bought the same kind I had in my house. The filters are less expensive and they are clear so you can see when they need changing. I also added quick connects on mine and on the ends of my hoses so that it is very simple to hook up and take down when I'm ready to move on. JMHO
