Here is my setup. Tried it out for the first time this week. With the bumper braces it seemed very solid. I am really liking this bike rack.

Do you have mount-n-lock bumper braces?

Yep. Did the preload install approach. Bumper seems really stable.

I really like mine too. Made a world of difference not allowing the bumper to flex and beef it up. Don’t know if I would carry 400 Lbs like they say but I either carry my beach cart or bike so I know I’m not over 100 Lbs.

Would you happen to know what model of hitch they installed on your trailer. I also have a 250rb and would like to add a 2" receiver hitch.
Thanks in advance

I’ve had a couple of frame mounted hitches installed by welding shops. They basically have to custom make a hitch. Welding a two inch square tube across from frame to frame. Then come out with a two inch receiver which is welded to the across tubing.

Exactly what Papa-T said. I had a local welding shop that was recommended by the rv dealer do it. It was custom made but pretty basic. I have had them install hitches on our last two campers and have been glad that I did. I know that our bikes are secure back there.

Thanks very much guys, I’m just looking to add a rack at the rear as to add about 350lbs as the tongue weight is significant on this trailer once it is loaded as most storage is at the front.

I Have a hitch on the back of my Cruiser and have had one on the last 4 campers. It Is welded to the frame in 4 places. There are 2 cross tubes that are welded to the frame about a foot and a half apart then the receiver tube is welded to that. It is all heavy wall 2" tube.

I carry a lot of weight back there. There is a Power wheelchair that weighs about 270 lbs. and the carrier weighs around 50 - 60 lbs. When the welding shop says how strong do you want this I tell them - Imagine that your wife and kids are behind me and the road is very bumpy - That's how strong.

I have had this set up for the last 12 years and never had a problem. But I inspect the welds before every trip and use a very good welder that I trust.

I installed a front mounted hitch on my truck. I like being able to see how the bikes are doing when I'm traveling.
