Water heater

Hello all,
I have a 301 Z-1, there is 6 gallon hotwater tank LP only. In the fuse panel there is a 15 amp breaker for the electric hotwater which I don't have. I purchased an after market electric water heater that goes in the drain valve, is there any way to hook into existing wiring (hard wire) and use a switch at the panel by the front door?

Thanks

I would like to do the same thing. I wish there was an electrical schematic to know how the factory wired these tt.

I put my drain plug water heater in so that it plugs in outside the trailer. The plug stores nicely in the exterior cabinet and I just plug it in when I hook up main power. Most of the campgrounds I go to have a separate 20a and 30a circuit. The water heater goes on the 20a away from the main power.

Unfortunately where I cam I don't have a separate 20a located near my 30a. I called crossroads and no luck with a wiring diagram, so I am going to wire it directly into my circuit panel and put a rocker switch in the line some where.

We bought a z1 last year because they told us it was gas/electric hot water heater and the specs say it is as well. It turns out it is not. RV dealer is now telling us that Crossroads won't fix their error. Trying to contact someone at crossroads. So far no luck.

Our Z1 has a gas and electric water heater, the switches are near the entrance door. Does anyone know if you can run both electric and gas at the same time for a quicker recovery when using the shower?

Absolutely. Do it all the time.

On our Z1 the electric element is on the rear of the water heater only accessible from the side compartment near the bypass valve. I originally thought ours was only electric even though the build sheet indicated it was dual. On the front is just the drain plug.

I checked all around the water heater and no luck, LP only. However is weird that in the circuit panel there is a breaker for hot water. I picked up some 12 gauge 30 amp wire, a 15 amp rocker switch, lightning rod and am going to wire it in myself.

Definatly only LP. Contacted Crosssroads customer service myself and they are now contacting the dealer. We will see what happens. Not asking for anything more than for them to make it right.

Remember that the production line changes constantly...trailers built 3 months apart will not be the same.

Also, literature has statement that basically says Crossroads has right to change anything at anytime without notice or recourse. They will do their best to accommodate I am sure, but I would not expect a free change-out of the water heater. Good luck!

#12 wire should be fine but it is rated for only 20 amps not 30. I would put in a 20A or 30a switch not 15amp.

This is not a "he has a gas/electric hot water tank in the same model as mine, so I want one too" issue. We were told when we bought the camper that it did infact come with a gas/electric hot water tank and the specs. on the door say it is has one as well. So therefore, I do expect them to switch it out free of charge.

Good luck with that. I have the same issue with my radio. Says on build sheet I have a higher grade installed complete with serial number, however I actually have a lower grade model installed. CR flat told me no as they have the right to change product at any time. However, it clearly shows a different model on the build sheet. I have my dealer working on it now.

Yep... They don't make the 970 anymore. 975 has the proper input and out outputs to listen to tv on the speakers as well hear a movie thru the tv speakers when spun around into bedroom. What gets me is they should know that it won't function that way and put it in anyway.
