Steve, being that the 17 model is the aluminum body, I'm guessing he has about 350 lbs more in payload. Thanks for posting!

Tim, another poster from another forum has the 2017 F250 Lariat 4x4 standard bed (I think), and her payload was 2176 lbs. I also thought that was low. Maybe the beefier frame takes up some of the weight saved by the aluminum body?? She actually ended up getting the dealer to take it back when it didn't have enough payload for the fiver she was buying.

Thanks Mark, that helps as I can compare apples to apples. I have seen several 2017 F-250 4x4 crew cab standard beds in the Lariat trim with the 6.2, and each payload sticker was right at or above 3,000 Lbs. Using the Max numbers from the PDF you provided, I can take the max and subtract the actual weights I've seen to determine what a diesel in a similar trim should weigh.

There is about a 450 LB difference. So taking the Max of the diesel, and subtracting out 450, it looks like we would get somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,100 Lbs.

I purchased a 2015 F250 4x4 FX4 6.7L. Payload sticker says 2275#.

My friend has a '12 250 CC 4by with the gasser in it, he tows some good sized loads like other vehicles and a loaded 15ft enclosed trailer, no camper anymore though. Its the longest he's held on to any truck in the 17 years I've known him. He keeps telling me to get a gasser when I finally have to get rid of my rusting out 04 diesel excursion.

Tow rating is about the same on both but even he has a hard time arguing against the 10-12mpg I get towing my camper.

Thanks for your input.
I ended up getting a 2015 diesel with 12000 miles. Within two weeks I was on the way to FL towing 35' TT at 8000# and 1800# truck load including tongue wt. Averaged 9-10 over 900 miles. Of course, it's fairly level along I95 south. Happy with the power and the stabity over the previous truck. Expensive but lots more confidence!
