I had an auto parts guy and a mechanic miss mine. Dealer found it right away. I spent a couple hours looking myself so don't feel bad.

My fuse block was in the engine compartment. The fuse looked more like a relay than a fuse.

OK, there was no fuse, the wire for the 12 volt charge to the trailer has a loop end. This wire was never connected and was tied in a bundle with tape under the master cylinder. With help from the E-Trailer web site I was able to figure this out. If not for the wimpy battery in this TT I still might not know the truck never was charging the battery. I would like to have been a fly on the wall when the powers that be at GM came up with the plan to sell trucks with tow packages and leave the wires like this.
Thanks to all who share information on this website.

You will probably find the wire for the brake controler taped up between the fuse box and the drivers fender.

Not a bad dea to go back to the 7 pin with a vom and verify everything else is connected properly. Amazing!

Is the 7 Pin factory? I could see if the hitch was all aftermarket, the dealer would make those connections as part of the install.

7 pin is factory but on some brands the live wire is not connected from the factory. No big deal , just put the wire connector on the bolt and put a nut on it . And get a fuse at the dealership...free of course.
some trucks have them already hooked up.
