I guess there are a couple of ways to look at that.

1. Just because you paid them, doesn't mean they're necessarily pros. It's possible that they didn't get it right.

2. But since you paid some pros to do it right, take it back to them and describe your problem to them so they can fine tune it for you.

I think you're on the right track about wanting to distribute weight to correct the ride, but I would use the physics of the hitch mechanism to distribute the weight around a fulcrum instead of actually distributing "stuff" around your rig to try to adjust the weight.

If it were me, I would definitely read every word of the manufacturer's literature so that I could speak conversantly when I went back to the hitch shop and told them to fix their work.

I moved my spare up in front of the front axle using the BAL hidaspare. It was very easy to install and that would definitely transfer some weight up front. In regards to having the WDH installed by others, the dealer "professionally" installed my blue ox WDH system and when I got the trailer to level ground it was riding close to 5" high at the tongue which explains why the back end was all over the place on the initial ride home from the dealer on the interstate so I ended up dropping the ball down about as low as the system allows and had to shift the clamps back on the frame about 2" so my chains hung plumb. Now the trailer and truck rides perfectly level and the front axle weight is within 20lbs of stock with the trailer hooked up. Moral of the story is just because you pay someone to do something it doesn't necessarily mean they know what the hell they are doing....

"Professional" means they got paid to do it, doesn't mean they knew what the hell they were doing. Professionals built your RV & look how much shoddy workmanship rolls out their doors everyday.

I normally start out with a full tank and drain some as needed during the trip if i find me setup is off. Variations in what we load around the bed, my cargo and my fuel tank can impact ride.

I'm also adding air bags and Load range E tires this spring. That should stiffen some of the squishy bounce i get. The best change was my spring bars though. Understanding my tongue weight showed me my bars were too soft. Firmer bars made an immediate impact.
