Advice on truck purchase

I want to purchase a tow vehicle to pull Sunset Trail 198RB. The vehicle will be parked except when towing the trailer on vacations and some weekend trips. Will not be a daily driver.

Came across a 2008 Tundra 5.7 L and tow package with 30,000 mi. The truck was only used to pull a 5th wheel camping trailer. Resulting in the low milage. The price seems to be close to fair before any bargining. Am I buying a lot of possible repairs on a truck 8 years old or is this a good find?

Have never owned a truck before so do not know what to expect.

That should be enough truck to pull what you are looking at. as long as it checks out on your inspection I think Toyotas are solid trucks. I've heard they dont get great gas mileage in general, but not much will when towing a camper. Good luck and happy camping!

Our truck is a 2004 Chevy and we have over 225,000 miles on it and still runs great. Only major repair so far has been a water pump (not cheap on the diesel, $500.00+ for a good pump not including labor).

As for the truck you are looking at that is really low miles for that year and as long as it was well maintained should provided plenty of years of service. If the price is right I would take the truck to a certified mechanic and have them check everything out for you. It might cost you $100.00+ for the inspection but would give you a good piece of mind and a barganing chip if you find a problem with it.

Any vehicle you buy is going to cost you money and is going to need general maintenance but when you start towing with it you can usually expect to do the maintenance a little more often.

Good luck with your purchase!
