I went out to our trailer today and took a look to compare the bracket compared to yours. I think ours is a different brand, but after looking at it, and your newest photos, the bracket looks okay...I think. I noticed I had a bit of rust on the side of the brackets where the chains obviously hit some, but nothing like yours. The trailer in this pic is new (bracket old) and I only have driven it about 140 miles so far, but even our last trailer didn't have marks on the frame from the chains. So, I think someone needs to examine it. If you get a pic of the WD with the trailer hooked up, that might help also...

Thanks Steve. I'm hoping to get out this weekend so I will get a pic when hitched!

I think Steve's bracket looks more correct. The U-shaped hook for the chain, the "prong" at the top of the bracket is to put a lever bar on. If the chain is on the U-hook, it won't be strung along the frame and over the top.

Is that "hook" not the place you pry up on to stretch the chain into place? Mine came with a piece of pipe to pry up on. Similar to mine but mine has another hook for the chain.
