Custom grill

Love the new truck but after 1 yr. I wasn’t happy with the bug and stone impacts to the radiator and other coolers. And with complete baffles around the radiator to maximize cooling there is no ez way to even clean off the bug remains. Aftermarket grills and inserts are all about appearance, not functionality, so I decided to mod the factory grill.

I cut out the factory mesh and replaced it with black powder coated aluminum mesh from Custom Car Grills. It is 1/4 inch hexagon with a 77% open area and covers the entire area from the hood to the bumper, even the open gaps below the grill and in the center of the grill. I also added mesh behind the large bumper cutout.

That looks like it should help prevent any problems with small stones getting hurled into the radiator.
