Go with the 18 for piece of mind. The 16 should be heavy enough but bigger is always better. Who knows you may want to upgrade in a few years.

16k will more than cover that trailer but as cwit said, if the 18k is not much more I would go with it in case you ever decide to get a bigger heavier trailer.

I think 16k is plenty for your rig. (on both ends) In my opinion, 18k would be over kill and probably more then your 350 is rated for anyway.

One thing to remember is that the weight rating for the hitch is not for just "dead" or standing weight. It is for the force it can absorb as you are going down the road, stopping sharp or during take-off. So if your rig weights 8500 it is easy to say that the hitch can see double the weight when you look at the stress it is going to take.

IMO a 18k will have better resale down the road with a minimal in cost difference.

I have a Curt Q5 20k. Our Cruiser has a pin weight of about 1,700 pounds and gross weight of under 12,000 pounds. The lesser hitches I shopped looked like toys compared to the 20k. It is WAY overkill but the piece of mind is priceless.

Why not buy the hitch that closely matches the tow rating of your vehicle for piece of mind. Anything more is pretty much a waste.
