What are you guys with the 6.2 getting for mpg both towing and running empty?
No fudging now. Lets be honest.

As always, depends on how you drive it and what it's in... 2 door, supercab, crewcab, raptor between 6 and 13 but MAN does it ride great - better than the proverbial Cadillac !

I've had the 6.2 & the V10 in trucks when working & when they stay running they'll pass everything but a gas station, hook a trailer behind them & you better upgrade to the biggest fuel tank available to make it to the next station.

I have 2012 6.2 with a 4.30 rear axle,I pull a 40' 36 FL Redwood. We travel from Louisville ky to Tampa FL 3 to 4 times a year. I get 8 to 10 mpg towing running 65 to 70 mph and 15 to 17 mpg solo. This is not my every day driver.

You must have gotten one of the exceptional ones.

Reason I asked about them is I was talking with my dealer and he told me to look at something else. He said I wouldn't be happy at all. I asked why-------
he said they are notorious for bad bad fuel mileage. He even stated 6 to 7 mpg was not unusual.

I think we are on different pages I was talking Super Duty and I think you might be talking about the F150. Two different animals, they are programmed differently and the 6.2 Raptor is is programmed differently from them two. I run mid-grade gas,but after the thread about hi-test getting a few more mpgs I'm going to try it. Next weekend we are heading down to Tampa for 2 weeks so I'll run the highest octane available.

2012 F250, extended cab, 4x4, 3.73 gears, all highway non-towing at 65mph I get 16-18 depending on gas. If I buy from 7/11 I get 16 mpg, if I buy BP or Shell, I get 18. towing an ST32RL, I get 10 mpg towing between 60 and 65 on good gas.

Why? The H.O. 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 has 450 HP and 510 lbs of torque.

Why would you lower yourself to a engine that does not have the grunt of the H.O. 3.5L EcoBoost® V6?

6.2 411 hp and 434 lbs of torque. For the 150

6.2 385 hp and 405 lbs of torque for the 350


Even the base 3.5 TT has 375 hp and 470 lbs of torque.

I agree the 3.5 EcoBoost is a monster,no brainer in the F-150.

Sounds like to me this dealer maybe trying to sell more diesels (tfhey make more money) there's really only 2 choices in a Super Duty 6.2 or 6.7,the 6.8 v10 is only available in a chassis cab.

I have been keeping close watch on my mileage since buying my truck. I get 12.5 to 13 normal diving (25 mile highway back and forth to work then around town). I have towed 3 long trips, 2 NH to Outer Banks and 1 NH to Myrtle Beach. Was 8.2 MPG towing my 5th wheel on original trailer tires for my first 2 trips. Went up to 8.9 this year on new Endurance ST's.

I need to update from my earlier post. I have a Superchip Tuner that the guy I bought my 2013 F250 6.2 gas from had purchased but never used.

Last weekend I tuned the engine to '87 Octane' Today on the interstate running 65-70 mph I was averaging 12.9 to 13.5 mpg.
This weekend I will be pulling the 5er(40 ft./12k lbs.) south on a 250 mile one way trip. The Superchip tuner has a mode for 'Heavy Towing'. I think I will reprogram to that setting and see how it reacts.
does anyone else have experience with the Superchip engine tuner?

I had thought about getting a super chip tuner, but everything I read said that tuners work much better on diesels, and you don't get much improvement with gas engines.
