Let me know your opinion.....gently
Ok, so I have a 2013 Sunset Trail Reserve 29SS. I generally go to Florida for February and I purchased my Travel trailer last spring so this will be the first time towing 1200 miles one way. Here is my setup and I would like to know what you guys think
I have a 2015 Silverado crew cab 5.3, LT Z71 with the towing packages, it has 22" Dueler tires. I added towing mirrors (bolt on) and it has the trailer brake integrated in the dash.
I just purchased a Blue Ox sway pro hitch. I'm curious if you all think i need the 750 lb bars or the 1000 lb bars?? I've seen posts on here that vary on what my tongue weight is.
I'm just looking for reassurances or thoughts on what I could do better for towing it in the future I guess. I towed this camper last year with a 2011 Silverado with no weight distribution hitch, so i'm thinking I should be much better with it.

I don't know what brand a 29SS is. Could you elaborate a little more?

I would go with the 1000#, that is what I have. You will add weight to the tongue with battery/batteries, propane, and what ever you put in the pass thru storage and under the bed, etc.

I don't claim to be an expert on TT but looking at the specs on that trailer, it would just seem to me you would be better off with the 1000# bars.
Hopefully some of the other members will chime in here.

You should be fine with your truck. I have the Blue Ox and I would recommend the 1000# bars. You can't go wrong with going over.

X4 I towed with 1000lb bars with my Avalanche. It's going to make towing much more enjoyable.

Go with the 1k bars and don't look back !! I bet it was a wild ride with no WDH ( bars ) ...? It should Handel MUCH better now. I have the 1000 WDH and would not pull with out them.

I have a Sunset Trail 300BH, this a caution about the bars. My dealer gave me 800lbs bars, because the spec's on the the brochure said 675lb tongue weight. They could not
understand why I had just over 1000lb tongue weight. I after mentioned dry weight listed did not include the almost 1400lb added carrying capacity, they ordered new bars.
I still can't believe how uneducated some of the dealer personnel are. Please confirm whatever dealers tell you. Happy camping!

X3,
Combination of uneducated, uninspired to learn and keep up on the models and part just don't care.
A car dealer is liable to release a car to you if it isnt safe to drive.....RV dealers should be held to the same..I've seen people pull out of dealerships with some crazy setups...you know the ones...mid-size SUV and huge camper where the front wheels of the vehicle are almost off the ground..
I couldnt even imagine getting on the highway with anything bigger than a popup without bars
There are some awesome shops out there but fewer and fewer it seems.
My last trailer was from a dealer here in NE Ohio and the shop manager gave me his cell numberafter fixing our water heater and told me to call him over the weekend (trip) if we had any issues. Too bad they don't sell CRs
