Look what followed me home!!!

Went to Houston on a business trip last week and this followed me home. Didn't think about it when I bought it, but my wife pointed out that it should match our trailer pretty nicely. I just wanted something other than white this time, it's Kodiak Brown with Pale Adobe bottom. My last 4 or 5 have been white.

Just curious, are prices better in Texas on trucks? We have been told that they are because Texas is Ford Truck Country.

I don't know if prices are really any better or not, I bought it from www.planetford45.com . They post their price right there on the web. They gave 12% off the sticker plus the factory rebates, but they gave me about $2,500 more than the dealers in San Antonio would on my trade. I generally only keep trucks 2 to 3 years as I put 50K plus a year on them with my job. So getting extra on my trade is a big deal for me as its hard not to be upside down with the miles I put on them. Plus, I generally don't put much down being the huge depreciating asset that it is.

Nice truck!! But I feel sorry for you....now you won't notice that travel trailer behind it and next thing you know you will be looking for a larger unit!!

See signature below, that's how it all starts. First a 3/4 ton with a gas engine hauling a 26 foot travel trailer, then got my F350 diesel and next thing you know, the travel trailer is out the window and the new 35 foot fifth wheel trailer is parked behind it.

Congrats on the new truck. My 2004 Ram 2500 broke down on me over Christmas holidays and while I was waiting on it, I checked out the new stock, ended up going home with a 2014 Ram 2500. I switched from the Cummins diesel to the new 6.4L Hemi. What a beast ! I know, I should have stayed with the diesel, but that was another 8500 bucks. Anyway, the gas mileage blows, but it's cheaper at the pump. Bought the 8 year, 120K warranty so it should last at least that long, ha ! Now to my question, my 2004 was a 2WD, so it was maybe 20" from tow ball to ground, my new 2014 is a 4x4 and it's probably 26" from tow ball to ground. How difficult is it to adjust the E4 equalizer hitch assembly for the height adjustment ? looks like there are two big ole bolts and take out and just move the ball down a couple of inches ? Any ideas ?

yes just pull those two bolts and adjust the hitch head down. there is also a tilt bolt, that will have to be loosened. The shank can be rotated either way to allow the hitch head more up and down movement. Also a longer shank can be purchased if it will not go low enough to allow your trailer to sit level.

There is a tow ball that is adjustable. It has a pin that pulls out so you can move the ball assembly up or down. Seems to me that would be the easiest way to address the height issue you are having. Go to Camping World web site type in adjustable ball hitch in search and take your pick. I never owned a TT so I don't know if I was any help or not.

cwalther1-

Had same ball height issue as yours when I bought the new RAM. I also have the Equal-I-Zer. Took measurements of the ball height required with the trailer level, in my case 24", and put the hitch head in the truck receiver and stopped at the nearest auto repair shop. Told the guy I needed 24" to the top of the ball, he removed the bolts and moved them to the proper holes. Had to flip the shank to get the right height. 10 minutes and $10 I had problem solved.
