Ah...did not know that! I have not seen any on the street in my area. Did a little checking and the price tag does not seem worth the squeeze. 3/4 ton's are selling for 35K to 45K around here for a no thrills model.

Your bring up an excellent point and on par for this topic.

Ram, Nissan, GM, (and now Ford and Toyota are into the mix) have added diesels to there light duty line-ups and the pricing model is out of whack in my opinion, since adding the option quickly jumps you up 10 grand on a 40-50K truck. We've been in the market (I take about 2 years to find a new vehicle) and the prices are insane. Especially my beloved F150s. I could only imagine what the price will be on the aluminum falcon (star wars reference) F150 with diesel.

Again, I can't believe there is a market out there for a 1/2 diesel (based on pricing). I'm guessing people with car trailers and maybe small horse trailer.but that has to be a really small market subset.

You can get a really nice 2500, 250, etc for less money it seems.

You bring up an excellent point. GM and Nissan are missing the boat in my opinion with dropping the diesels in there mid and 1/2 ton trucks respectively. These trucks with diesels get into the 50-70 grand pricing real quick.

I had to go to Home Depot Sunday afternoon. When I left and went back to my car, there was a diesel Canyon with a small utility trailer idling in the parking lot. It's the first I've noticed.

On the price topic, my 2013 LTZ had a window sticker of $64K, but it has every imaginable option on it including DVD player in the roof. GM had an $8K discount at the time, and I was able to get it for under $50K.

Hey guys, this thread is getting pretty far from the what the topic started out as. I know it’s easy to add just a little something different here and there. I’m guilty of it myself.
I think if you want to talk about the Dodge diesel, Chevy Colorado or Canyon diesel, or even the Duramax, it would be better to start a new thread. When things that really don’t pertain to the original topic start getting thrown into a thread, it gets to be a mess that nobody can sort out. So lets try and keep this thread on topic and pertaining to the new ford f150 diesel.

My Ford dealer called me yesterday. (Ray) I've been hounding him for any news on the new f-150 diesel.
He told me he had been talking with his factory rep/contact, and they are very tight lipped on it.
I asked about the rumored 13-14 K towing capacities, he said they hadn’t given out any # yet.
As far as the rumor about them suspending the release because of other brands getting in trouble with their posted #, that’s just what it is at this point, rumors. He said they are still planning on a 2018 release. We’ll see. It might be the truth. They might just be double checking their own EPA # so there won’t be any trouble when they do release.
Another rumor that is false is the idea it will jump the cost by $10,000 or so. Not true. When I asked about that, it was a flat no. Up charge will be $2500. I could live with that. Especially if they beefed the truck up enough to have more towing ability.

I just thought I'd mention it if we are talking about the new 2018 F-150. I am sure you most of you are familiar with product placement and how Ford has been big with this with NCIS New Orleans, and Designated Survivor. In the recent episode of NCIS New Orleans on the 4/18 episode they aired a short clip showing a slide cargo storage in the front bed of the truck where it meets the cab on the bottom 1/3 rd it being a pull slide storage. I have a crappy photo if anyone wants me to post.

I haven't seen that one yet. Put er up.
Ford sends me a magazine every so often showing all the different vehicles. I got one the other day and there was just a short blurb about the new diesel.
It said---available spring 2018.

I think you looked at the sticker wrong, I work at the Super Duty plant, 82k is more in the neighborhood of a F350 DRW Platinum.

First, thanks for building great trucks! Appreciate the feedback but I wish I was wrong. Unbelievable, but that vehicle sold, but I pulled the sticker on comparable King Ranch F250 SRW with similar options. The one we looked at had some other baubles and toys added pushing it over 82K. My gosh it even had massaging seat backs. Nicest vehicle I've every been in for sure.

Crazy expensive. I'm sticking with ole 2011 F150 Ecoboost for a couple more years. Actually drive by that motor plant every morning here in the CLE!

Ah,now that makes sense, when they go over the hill to the mod center the price goes up really fast. The bad thing about a F-250 like that is that usually they have very little payload due to all the goodies. A F-250 diesel struggles to have 2k of payload before all the add-ons. That will be the same problem with the 150 diesel, I would opt for the Ecoboost If I was in the market for a half ton, but on the other hand a 250 XLT 6.2 gas truck will probably cost less then a 150 diesel and maybe even a Ecoboost. Small world i'm from just outside of Cleveland, I started with Ford at the Lorain assembly plant.
