New to a 5th wheel

I am about to purchase a 2008 CF28RL and would like to hear from anyone who either has one or has had one...good things or bad things. This will be our first 5th wheel...started with pop up then to hybred and now the 5th wheel, seems to be the natural progression of things. The person I am getting it from pulls it with a 2008 F150 and I have a 2008 Titan. Any info on towing would be helpful also

Hi Bob,We also started with a popup & than a hybred & i miss them both,We just also purchased a CF28RL,But i can't tell you much about it because we have not picked it up yetbut we looked a long time before we brought a CrossRoads & you will not here anything bad about the company or the brand.Good luck& have a good time camping.Edited by: campsurveyor

Bob...Welcome to theforum, I think youll be very happy with your choice of fifth wheels, I know we are...We owned two different travel trailers and now the Crossroads 30sk, and thisFW iswaayyy better...Easy to pull, easier to hook and unhook, and way more room(both in floorspace and head space!)...The company seems to really stand behind their product also...The dry weight of the28rl iswithin the towing capacity of your Titan, but if you plan on long trips thru the mountains, youd be better off towing with a 3/4 ton truck if for no other reason than to be able to control and stop betterin an emergency...

We started out with a 32' Airstream TT and went to a 05 Cruiser 29RK. You will love the 5th wheel once you spend a little time with it.

cowboy_71,Must be nice,We are having a heat wave here also it's near 30 degrees today & could be near 40 by Monday,We are picking it up Monday Feb 1st in Ohio,First they are going to install a hitch than wehave an appointment at the service center in Indiana with Randy to have the underbelly repaired & a couple other minor things done.Going to spend the night across from the service center,i guess they have a couple of elec sites there,Should be fun,Yea i want to have it near by.Happy camping

Thanks for the info, I live in FL so hills are hardly and issue let alone mounains!!! I am however going to take a trip up the East coast sometime. I look forward to talking with everyone on this forum, seems like a great place to get info and swap stories.....

I have neverpulled a TT but I think you will notice the wind more in a 5er. Head winds hurt mileage and cross winds tend to blow you around a little. Now for the good part. 5ers do not sway or swerve. They will follow you whereever you take them. They back up a little diferent than a bumper hitch but after you become acustom to the slower turning I think you will find they are easier to back than a bumper hitch. The truck actually rides better also as some of the hitch weight goes on the frount axle. I think you will enjoy all the additional room. Good Camping

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new 5er. I graduated from a 30' TT a few years ago...the 5eris a much more comfortable tow / ride. One noticable difference...TT's (or anything towed off your bumper) will generally follow you around a turn, a 5er will cut the corner. So be sure take your time on the first couple trips and take her out wide...Not something you want to learn the hard way.
