With the amount of sales the F150 has, I'm sure auto-body shops will be ready and prepared for the new aluminum body.

Funny you posted this, I was just at the body shop today (my 2011 F150 got mashed from behind). My buddy there told me the insurance will be sky-high on these, especially out of the gate.

I work all over Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Nebraska. It is a lot of driving pulling all kinds of trailers and equipment. I have given all the big three truck brands major tests over the years.

I agree, it's one of the reasons I like my diesel 1 ton truck. If you pull a travel trailer it exerts more forces on the tow vehicle especially in a high wind due to the hitch connection being behind the vehicle. This is much less noticeable in a heavy truck and more stable. A fifth wheel doesn't provide the same types of forces due to the hitch point being slightly ahead of the rear wheels, but I prefer my F350 for the additional braking power and stability when in mountain declines and turns. The fifth wheel doesn't push me around. And really, nothing beats a diesel for being able to accelerate up an 8% grade for ten miles or maintain 65 miles per hour straight uphill.
There won't be any half tons anytime soon that will be capable of pulling a 16,000 pound trailer!! So if you upgrade, you're ready for it.

My friend at the body shop says the Insurance company he works with said it going to cost up to 15% more to repair. I to like more mass with my big V10. Some times size dose matter!

Heartily agree that size matters. Have to admit the thought of an aluminum truck is interesting but does defeat the purpose of having a TRUCK. Aluminum to me is something you wrap fish in over a fire, cookies on a cookie sheet or cool looking rims for your truck.

Don't need to tell you about what a nice truck you picked up and yes I luv diesel.
As for body shops some hoods are aluminum and yes insurance is pricey on the repairs.
Most repairs now days are replacement. How many remember the old lead solder repairs?

LOL Lloyd!!! Been a while since I've had aluminum wrapped around me in that fashion...lately the aluminum has been wrapped around me over two axles and a fifth wheel! Can get a movie, food, and place to sleep on both, but the views and the company is more of my own choosing with the camper
